Peter Knight Walker (6 December 1919 – 28 December 2010) was an Anglican bishop.〔(NPG details )〕 Walker was educated at Leeds Grammar School and The Queen's College, Oxford.〔The Times, 18 November 1937; pg. 19; Issue 47845; col B, ''University News- Scholarships''〕〔Who's Who 2008: London, A & C Black: 2008, ISBN 978-0-7136-8555-8〕 During the Second World War he served in the RNVR and was then a teacher at The King's School, Peterborough and Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood before ordination in 1954. His first ordained ministry position was a curacy at Hemel Hempstead, after which he was fellow, dean and lecturer at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.〔Daily Telegraph, Obituaries, p. 31, "Bishop of Ely who oversaw the restoration of his cathedral and won the praise of W H Auden", issue no 48, p. 397, 7 January 2011〕 From 1962 to 1972 he was principal of Westcott House, Cambridge.〔Crockford's Clerical Directory Lambeth, Church House 1976 ISBN 0-19-200008-X〕 In 1972 he was ordained to the episcopate as the Suffragan Bishop of Dorchester.〔The Times, 10 February 1972; p16; Issue 58398; col D, ''New Bishop of Dorchester''〕 In 1977 he was translated to become the Bishop of Ely, a position he held until his retirement in 1989.〔(Genuki )〕 ==Death== He died in Cambridge on 28 December 2010, aged 91.〔''Daily Telegraph'', Obituaries, p. 31, ibid.〕
